Your Dog’s Day: What to Expect

09:00 Morning drop-off & settling walk (Latton Bush Recreation Grounds, Harlow)

Your dog’s day begins when you drop them off at Latton Bush Recreation Grounds in Harlow. We start with a relaxed walk and some play to build engagement, create a positive mindset and set them up for a successful day of learning.

Safe, comfortable travel in crash-tested dog boxes

We’ll then load up into the van, where your dog travels in secure, crash-tested DT Dog Boxes fitted with soft veterinary bedding for maximum comfort. Travel between locations is short - around 20 minutes - and your dog is the only client dog with me that day, meaning no long periods crated and no waiting around.

Quiet location training: building skills & engagement

For many dogs, we begin in a quieter environment. This allows us to focus on the foundational behaviours you’d like to improve, such as:

  • Loose lead walking

  • Focus around distractions

  • Basic cues (sit, down, stay, recall, place)

  • Neutrality around people or dogs from a distance

  • Building engagement outdoors

This gentle start helps your dog build confidence before we move on to more challenging environments.

Real life training: high streets, shopping centres & busy environments

Once your dog is ready, we head somewhere busier - such as a high street, retail park or shopping area - to proof behaviours in real-world settings.

This helps your dog learn to:

  • Stay calm around crowds

  • Walk nicely past dogs, people and prams

  • Focus despite noise or movement

  • Settle in public places

  • Generalise training skills beyond your home

This step is often where owners see the biggest transformation.

Afternoon adventure walk: decompress & practise skills

Mid-afternoon, we head out for an adventure walk somewhere beautiful and open, such as:

  • Hatfield Forest

  • Panshanger Park

  • Epping Forest

Here your dog gets to decompress, explore, enjoy enrichment and practise skills like recall, engagement and loose lead walking using a long line or flexi lead depending on their training level.

This balance of structure + freedom helps prevent overstimulation and supports a calmer mindset.

Final training stop: settling in public

To finish the day, we’ll stop at a garden centre or coffee shop to practise settling in a public space.

For dogs who find this challenging, we work at a distance first and gradually help them build the calm confidence needed to settle in cafés, pubs or busy indoor environments. Over multiple Day Training sessions, this becomes a reliable habit.

15:00 End-of-day handover & tailored summary

We meet you back at the original drop-off location for a full verbal debrief on what we covered. Later that day, you receive a written summary with:

  • Progress notes

  • Behaviours practiced

  • Wins & challenges

  • Personalised guidance for continuing the work at home

This ensures training remains consistent and effective, long after the session ends.
